Do you have a Fundraising Target or are you raising money for a particular reason?
If you are we can help! We now have a free fundraising tool that lets you enter the details of what you are trying to achieve and then record how you are doing - just like the old fashioned baramoter used on Blue Peter and the ones that church funds have used for years.
It's really simple to setup and update and then people can see how well you are doing at any time. In fact you can even use a picture of what you want to help motivate people to try harder!
People that select your school on eduPayment will be shown the target in minature everytime they go to the eduPayment marketplace, and if they click the target they can see the larger view as shown below.
For conveniece you can even put a link to the targetometer from your own website, just copy the link to your own site.
Well, Easter is almost here, which means it's time to start thinking about the school summer fairs. These are hard work for the PTAs but they are also fun for the whole school.
To try and improve the amount of money that the summer fair will raise; try and bear in mind, some things are fun but part of the reason to hold the fair is to raise money for the school.
Always try and cost out every event or stall - and if there are different alternatives evalutate them against fundraising potential as well as fun.
A really important thing to remember is to try and get sponsorship for any of the stalls that you can. For instance try and get the food stall sponsored by the local food shop, maybe get a local pub or restaurant to donate a free meal for a prize at the event, etc etc. If you can turn donated prizes or supplies into money then you can raise a worthwhile amount.
use eduPayment.co.uk, it's easy, quick and free - and you could earn 5% of your school community's online spend.
Recycling old clothes, again, really quick, easy and free. You can currently earn around £35/£40 per tonne for old clothes, shoes etc. You arrange with the Parents to drop off all their unwanted clothes and an outside company will come to your school, pick up the clothes and buy them. But be carefull rates differ between different companies. Check out Rag Bag and Bags 2 school (Bags to school only pay £20 /tonne if you only book one pickup at once).
Christmas Fairs and Summer Fairs - The classic way to have fun and raise funds, but these are both hard work! To increase profits, try to get events spondored by local businesses.
School Raffle - can make great returns if you get good enough prizes donated and for a small anual charge your local council (licensing Department) will provide a license to allow you to print tickets and sell them prior to the event, local Supermarkets willing!
Treasure Hunt Board, these kits can be bought fom around £10 and allow people to choose a square on a large board. There are around 120 squares that cna be sold for 50p to £1 each, and only once price needs to be given for the person who picked the correct square. If the prizes are donated, this offers a great return on investment. You could even make your own Board and pick a square using a raffle ticket!
Second hand sale - obvious but if people donate things like old school uniforms, clothes and toys then profits can be good!
Cake sale Get the parents and children to bake cakes and bring them to school to sell - popular with everyone (except the bakers maybe) and the hard work is spread around lots of people. Again all the proceeds are profit for the PTA/ School as the cakes will be donated.
Fashion show. These are really popular at the moment and as well as selling tickets, if you use a professional shop to supply the clothes (and sell them on the night) you should be able to receive at least 10% of the total spend, without any risk
Competions. These are fun, free (or almost free) but like the fairs they take some organising. Things that are popular at the moment are a Wii sports challenge and Talent Contests are always popular. Charge a small entry fee for competitors and specatators
Childrens art work for sale. There are lots of variations of these, christmas Cards, Tea Towels, T shirts, etc, but all require he children to draw something that is then produced by an outside company and sold on to the parents and the school or PTA receive a percentage of the sales value.
